8th 24-hour Puzzle ChampionshipTaking part in the competitionIf you wish to take part in the competition or you are interested in learning more about it (aside from puzzles), you should contact the organiser, György István.Scoring system in the competitionIn the past years, assuming 30 puzzlers, for any given puzzle set the winner got 30 points, the runner-up received 29 points, etc. Ties were resolved by distributing the number of points the puzzlers would have received without a tie, i.e. for a tie at 3-4th places both received 27.5 points whereas a triple tie between 5-7th placements yielded 25 points to all three of them concerned. This year, on the other hand, we will use a scoring system that takes the puzzle scores more into account.
In each round, the winner will get 1 point, with his result being the "maximum score" for that round.
All other puzzlers get the amount of points that is in the same proportion to 1 as their score is to the
maximum score.
E.g. if Alice scores 800 points, Bob has 780 and Cecil 320, Alice will get 1.000, Bob will get 0.975
while Cecil ends up scoring 0.400 points.
The highest total wins the competition.
Information about puzzlesAll 14 instruction booklets are available via the download links below. Please carefully read over these instruction booklets. There will be a questions' hour prior to the event but it is not designed to go through every single puzzle, just to raise the questions or clarify any potential mistakes. You are welcome to let me know if you encounter any questions or error. For any such finding, or about any other issue relating to the puzzle sets, please send an email to the tournament controller, who will then either answer your questions or escalate the issue to the puzzle author concerned.
